Webinar Description
Abigail Gilson will discuss Factors in Leak Detection Sensitivity for Electrical Leak Location methods in this webinar.
The ASTM standardized methodologies detail leak detection sensitivity testing for the various electrical leak location methods. The term “sensitivity testing” is misleading, since it typically implies the ability to reliably detect a leak of a particular size. This is not the reality! The ability to detect any leak is generally a function of site conditions but also the hole’s physical contact with underlying and overlying material. Equipment can be optimized for the site conditions using an actual or artificial leak, but in many cases particular leaks can remain undetected for various reasons. This webinar details the factors affecting leak detection sensitivity for the various ELL methods. Case studies are presented that illustrate these factors. The knowledge gained from these field experiences can be used by design engineers to write better project specifications that can maximize leak detection sensitivity.
About the presenter
Ms. Gilson spent the first part of her Civil & Environmental Engineering career as a containment facility design engineer and electrical leak location survey practitioner. She joined TRI in 2012 to focus solely on the implementation and advancement of electrical leak location technologies. She has over sixteen years and 15 million square meters of electrical leak location survey experience.
Her contribution to the field of electrical leak location includes numerous published technical papers, educational seminars, presentations world-wide, and heading the ASTM Task Groups for the recent revisions and additions to the ASTM Standard Guides and Practices.
