In November ACigs chaired a workshop in Melbourne to review the current state of practice for onsite Construction Quality Assurance (CQA). A broad range of stakeholders from Victoria and interstate participated representing asset owners, designers, construction contractors, testing laboratories and CQA professionals, see list below. The workshop was facilitated by Warren Hornsey, Siamak Paulson and Graham Fairhead from ACigs, GHD provided conference facilities for the workshop. The workshop debated current practices and opportunities to provide higher quality and more efficiently provided CQA services in highly regulated environments and more generally projects using geosynthetic materials.
The group agreed to the develop an industry code of practice providing guidelines for CQA practitioner qualifications. The guidelines are proposed for use nationally across all construction sectors using Geosynthetics and therefore will be broad based and applicable across this wide range of applications. Following the workshop a draft document has been developed you can read it here – On Site CQA 11-03-2020 R7. We are now engaging with several regulatory bodies nationally seeking support and endorsement for the guidelines.
